After the raw materials are mixed and moistened, they are extruded through the die holes by the pressure rollers to form pellets. It is compact, easy to operate, and requires low investment. The hourly output is typically 50-200 kg, suitable for small family fish farms and livestock farms. Its advantages are high flexibility, allowing for quick die changes to adjust pellet size, suitable for small-batch, multi-variety feed production; its disadvantages are low capacity, average pellet uniformity, and slightly poor water resistance (3-4 hours), which cannot compare with the large-scale capacity of extruders. Suitable applications: piglet starter feed, fish fry base feed, and feed for small livestock farms, compensating for the high investment and energy consumption of small extruders.
Ring Die Wet Pelletizer: The mainstay for medium to large-scale production. The ring die wet dog food production machine consists of a ring die and multiple pressure rollers. Raw materials are extruded and shaped between the ring die and the rollers, offering advantages such as high production capacity, good pellet uniformity, and stable forming. Hourly output can reach 300-2000 kg, making it suitable for large-scale production in medium to large feed mills. Its pellet density is uniform, hardness is controllable, and water resistance is improved to 5-6 hours. It can produce complete feed for livestock and poultry, as well as sinking hard pellets for aquaculture, making it the most widely used wet pellet mill in the feed industry. Compared to large twin-screw extruders, ring die wet pellet mills consume more than 30% less energy, making them suitable for large-scale conventional feed production, while extruders are more focused on high-end customized feed.
Other special models: adapted to specific scenario needs. Besides flat die and ring die models, wet dog food processing machines also include special models such as swing-type and rotary-type machines. Swing-type machines use an eccentric wheel to drive a screen to swing and granulate, producing irregularly shaped pellets, suitable for laboratory and small-batch pilot production. Rotary-type machines use a rotating cutter head to cut and shape pellets, producing precise particle sizes, suitable for high-end young animal feed. These special models have lower production capacity and cannot replace flat die and ring die models, but they can compensate for their shortcomings in specific scenarios. Compared to extruders, all wet pellet mills lack extrusion capabilities and cannot produce floating feed. They must be used in conjunction with extruders, depending on the water layer distribution and nutritional needs of farmed fish, to cover all feed production scenarios.
